A Beginners Guide to Buying Authentic Swords Online
Looking at all the various swords for sale online can make you feel a bit like a kid in a candy store. But if you are looking to buy authentic replica swords online, it can be a bit harder to get what you really want than it otherwise might first appear…
Sure, if you are just looking for an ornamental sword to hang on the wall - it’s pretty easy. Just look around for a sword that takes your fancy, don’t spend much more than US$50 and your chances of getting what you want are good…
But if you are like me when I first started my sword collection, you might not know that there is a world of difference between an ornamental sword that you hang on the wall and a REAL sword that you can actually swing through the air or cut things with!
The reality is that the vast majority of swords for sale on the internet are what experienced sword collectors call “sword like objects”. Even just swinging one of these swords through the air is asking for trouble, and may the gods help you if you try to cut something as simple as a cardboard box! More often than not, the swords handle will break, the blade will shatter or worse still, come flying off like some demented helicopter blade at a speed of just over 40mph (trust me, voice of experience here!).
The fact of the matter is that if you are looking for a REAL sword, you need to start your search looking for what online sword sellers refer to as a “battle ready” or “functional sword.”
Unfortunately though, not all sword sellers are scrupulously honest in their description of a battle ready sword… And quite often, this description is applied to swords that are anything but “functional”.
Essentially, there are three main characteristics that all REAL swords have in common. And those characteristics are:
- They are made of high carbon steel, NOT stainless steel.
- The swords have been properly heat treated to ensure they are not too brittle and not too soft.
- The sword has what is called a “full tang”. In other words, the metal insert that goes into the swords handle is forged as part of the sword, and not welded on afterwards.
Of course, not all “functional” swords being sold online accurately describe if they have these characteristics. Luckily though, there is a fairly easy way to determine if a sword is REAL or not. And that is by only buying swords made by a well known and respected sword manufacturer.
In my opinion, the best “bang for your buck” swords are all produced by 3 companies - Windlass Steelcrafts, Generation 2 and Paul Chens Hanwei Forge. All of these manufacturers make good quality REAL swords at prices around the US$150 to $200 mark.
While you might think that this is a lot to pay for a sword, especially when compared to the cheap swords being sold online for $30 or $40 - the reality is that you are not comparing apples with apples. And believe me, for this price range you can get some very mean, strong swords that you would be proud to show off to your friends.

Change Surroundings To Match Your Life
Hopes and dreams come in all sizes and shapes. You can journal and make collage boards of all the “things” you want in your life but you still have to have the major ingredient of action to make them reality. If changing the geographic location of where you live seems too major, start with making where you are now more livable.
Are you still keeping those bedrooms intact for the children to come home? Get up and clear the room. Turn it into your private space. Take out the easel and the paints and throw down a tarp and begin to let the air out of this mid life crisis. Color it any color you want. Frame and put your own paintings, drawings or creations on the walls. There is no one to criticize you. Actually, most of your friends will either be jealous or copy your every move.
If you have been drooling over the upgrades of homes in magazines or on the cable channels, you don’t need to keep waiting. Have garage sales and give the children their favorite memory items and go out browsing and shopping until just the right item catches your eye. All the wonderful, cheerful colors available to tempt you and delight you in your decorating adventures are waiting to share your space. Friends ooh and ah over your newly found inner expression and can’t wait to see what’s next.
If white carpeting or purple walls have always intrigued you then I would say, “go for it”. What are you waiting for?
The generation before us hung onto everything. We spent a lot of years incorporating the family’s hand me downs with a blend of our own choices. We sometimes landed very near our family of origin. Sometimes in the same neighborhoods. The generation we raised does not stick around. A majority of them move to other states and countries. It becomes too expensive to take used articles with them especially when they prefer new personally chosen items. Thus we fill our attics, basements and garages with all the things just in case they might want them. More for the garage sale and or the Good Will. Remember that one person’s trash is another’s treasure. Make room and lighten your life. The accumulation is out of control and it is a heavy burden to carry. Once it’s gone, you won’t even remember you had it or it will become a memory that brings a smile. It’s your space to have, hold and to do with whatever you want. So, let some of the accumulation go and move in something that makes you enjoy life more.
How much older do you think you need to be before you have what you want?

Do What You Really Hate Or Do The Next Worst Thing!
In a previous article I mentioned that one of the best ways to beat the procrastination habit is by forcing yourself to do what you really, truly hate.
According to psychologist Albert Ellis, you can do it by donating a lot of money to a group or organization that you utterly despise. His logic is that you’ll find the idea so abhorrent that you’ll gladly perform the item you’re procrastinating about, instead.
I want to offer an alternative; that works for me.
I have a procrastination list. I rank those miserable, awful, “I shouldn’t have to do this!” types of activities and duties in order of the disgust they promote in me.
So, the number one item is the biggie among biggies. It’s a huge boulder that is squatting smack in the middle of my road to success.
It weighs tons and tons, so no mere mortal would be able to push it away, or so I tell myself.
Then, I look at number two, on my list.
By comparison, it looks like a puny pebble. So, quickly, I sweep it away, and feel at least a small surge of accomplishment.
Number three is a mere grain of sand, and it flies into the stratosphere with just a flick of a finger.
Number four shouldn’t even be on a procrastination list. It’s an everyday to-do, sort of task.
Easy peasy, that’s done!
I still don’t feel 100% great, because I know that big boulder hasn’t budged.
Still, I feel pretty good, for a flake!
And I have just about enough energy from my minor victories to just start chipping away at the edges of it.
That, my friends, is a big accomplishment, indeed!

A Seamless Front End To Constant Follow-up
The woman walked into a photography studio and inquired whether a photographer would come to their home to take family photos in front of the fireplace. The receptionist nicely told her that they would do that, gave the prospective customer a brochure and price list for “on-location photo shoots” then took down the woman’s contact information, including her email address, which was added to the “prospect” database.
That’s it, a seamless front-end and constant follow-up system. It starts with a “Thank you for inquiring” note and is followed with a series of newsletters, coupons, announcements of open houses, and seasonal offerings like Valentine, Halloween, and other holiday promotions.
Did the woman become a customer? I don’t know since the incident occurred just last week, but I can assure you that, if the woman compared other photo studios to this photographer’s systemized approach to answering the inquiry, this photographer would be heads and shoulders above in comparatives like professionalism, preparedness, showing interest in the prospect, and appearance of quality. Over time, after she receives a number of communications and promotions, the woman will have to be impressed even more.
It is a fact that most businesses do not systemize either the sales process or the follow-up process very well, if at all. Yet, for many products or services, the purchasing decision is not impulsive. It is often a “kicking the tires” methodical accumulation of knowledge about options and various choices available - comparing one prospective vendor or product against another. The longer the decision-making process for a given vendor or product, the more a follow-up program will differentiate your company or your product / service versus your competitor in converting the prospect into a customer.
As a personal example, my mother just moved into a retirement community in Illinois. She had been doing research by “kicking the tires” of these communities for at least five years. When she made the decision to make this big move, her choice was easy because of the sales and follow-up system of her chosen new home.

How to Select the Right Web Hosting Provider?
Wednesday April 30th 2008, 3:40 am
Filed under:
Web Tips
When evaluating a hosting company, there are a few essential elements that need to be investigated very carefully. In today’s eWorld, a business’ web site is its bloodline and should be considered as such by the web hosting provider.
First and for most, make sure the hosting company offers 24/7/365 technical support by phone and email. Try their phone lines and make sure you talk with a human being and not to a machine before signing up. Ask them about their Server Specifications to make sure it is a commercially-graded computer and not a regular desk-top or a laptop. Find out about their Facility to make sure they have fault-tolerant data center facilities employing some sort of true N+1 redundant configuration for all power and network components, and not some one’s basement. Request information about their security and monitoring systems to make sure that the servers are managed and monitored around-the-clock with fault detection systems.
If they pass the above, then proceed with choosing the right plan:
When choosing a Web hosting plan, one needs to consider a few essential factors. Disk space, access to multiple programming languages, databases, SSL services, FTP access, regular backups, guaranteed uptime, access to server configuration files, raw logs/statistics, and the number of email boxes are among the first few elements.
The next thing to look at is whether you need a Windows or Unix-based host. This depends on what features you need. For example, if you are already using IIS, ASP, VBScript, Microsoft SQL Server, or Access, and you don’t have the time to learn Unix-based solutions, you should choose a Windows 2003-based host. Linux- and FreeBSD-based operating systems and Apache Web servers are most common among web hosting companies because of their good track record of stability and performance. There is usually no need for the operating system of your computer to match that of your hosting provider’s.
Next, you should calculate how much disk space your site will need. Typically, 50 MB of disk space will suffice for a vast majority of sites that don’t have a lot of graphics, sound and video clips or downloadable files. However, it is a good idea to leave yourself some room for growth.
Data transfer is the next calculation. You can estimate your data transfer requirements by looking at your site’s average page size (including graphics!) and multiplying it by the number of page views you expect to have in a month. For example, you need 3 GB per month for an average page size of 50 KB, and around 2000 page views per day. In this particular case, we recommend getting a plan with 4 to 5 GB of data transfer limit per month - eliminating any worries about overstepping your account’s limit (which may cause extra transfer charges). For anything over 50 GB in transfer per month, you should look into getting a dedicated server.
For dynamic sites, you need to figure out the server-side languages. You don’t know how to program in these languages, but you should know which ones you’ll need to use on your site. Some of these languages include Perl, PHP,VBScript, JScript, or PerlScript, ColdFusion, JSP, Tcl, Python, server JavaScript, Miva Empressa, and even compiled C/C++.
Finally, if your site stores dynamically-accessible data (like user accounts, stock prices, maps), you’ll need to set up an account with a database. NT-based plans offer Microsoft Access or Microsoft SQL Server while Unix-based plans support mSQL, MySQL, or PostgreSQL. MS SQL Server is much more powerful than Access for NT, while MySql and PostgreSQL are more powerful than mSQL in Unix environment.

How To Prune Your Roses For Stunning Results
Pruning and deadheading are essential to proper rose care. Alas, there are nearly as many opinions about how and when to prune as there are roses in need of pruning.
While seasoned rosarians have their favorite tried-and-true methods, this article is geared toward new-comers who are unsure where to start. As time goes by, you may feel the urge to modify these techniques or even develop new ones of your own. Great! If it doesn’t kill your roses, go right ahead.
Rose pruning isn’t as complicated as some people make it out to be. In fact, there are only 7 basic rules. If you keep these in mind whenever you pick up your pruning shears, you’ll be rewarded with beautiful bushes that reflect the care that you put into them.
Basic Pruning Rules
1. Always remove any dead or decayed growth. This keeps your bushes looking good and denies disease and insects a place to call home.
2. Always keep the center of the bush free of growth. This denies insects a place to live, and allows good air circulation to avoid fungus infection.
3. Remove crossing branches to promote stronger growth.
4. Shape your rose bushes as they grow. This will change them from wild and wooly to prim and proper, as all good roses should be.
5. Always using sharp pruning shears.
6. Clean the shears after each use to remove any disease or fungus spores.
7. Seal the cuts you’ve made on canes to keep out disease. Regular Elmer’s glue works fine and it is cheap.
Pruning Terms And Techniques
Hard (or “Low”) Pruning — Cut canes back to 3 or 4 buds from the base or the bud unions. The end result will be strong canes about 4 to 5 inches in length. This pruning technique works best with new hybrid tea, grandiflora, and floribunda varieties. You should not do hard pruning with established bushes because they may not recycle. The only exception is as a last-ditch effort to revive sick or neglected bushes.
Moderate (or Medium) Pruning — Cut strong stems back to approximately half of their length. Weaker stems may be cut back even more, if needed. This technique works well with established gardens of floribundas, hybrid teas, grandifloras, and tree roses.
Light (High or Long) Pruning — Cut the canes back to around 2/3 of their length. After all the unwanted “wood” is removed, any remaining stems are “tipped”. Light pruning is not usually recommended for most bushes, because it tends to produce early blooms and poorly developed flowers. Use this technique only if others are not working and the bush is an eyesore.
Proper pruning is easy, and it is the key to a happy, healthy rose garden.

The Meaning Of A Vow
You’re in love. You’re ga-ga. Let’s face it… you’re both crazy!
Yet you somehow summoned the presence of mind to make a life-changing decision: to get married.
When the chemistry is right between two people, and there seems no other clear path than to tie the knot, the time is ripe for marriage. Amid the general confusion and effusion and delusion, this is probably the only really serious decision you’re capable of at the moment, as a couple. It’s natural, it’s right, it’s obvious. Now all you have to do is back up your vows…with a lifetime of love.
Simple? Not hardly.
Love comes on strong, grabs you both by the lapels and shakes until the rings fall out of your pockets. It’s just the nature of the beast. But that does not diminish the lifetime of dedication and respect two people willingly give each other long after the crazed-in-love period wanes.
Whether you write your vows or repeat the time-honored, “Till death do us part” phrases, just take a moment, before you make your promises, to reflect upon the words you choose to say to each other.
Maybe you gravitate toward Aristotle’s famous quote, “Love is composed of a single soul inhabiting two bodies.” Maybe you came across Thomas Moore’s idea, “Marriage is an Athenic weaving together of families, of two souls with their individual fates and destinies, of time and eternity–everyday life married to the timeless mysteries of the soul.” Or possibly you both prefer the lighter, albeit somehow more poignant, perspective of Winnie the Pooh: “If there ever comes a day when we can’t be together keep me in your heart, I’ll stay there forever.”
Whatever you decide to promise, mean it with every fiber of your being. The meaning of your wedding depends upon the depths of your sincerity. And your journey together on Planet Earth does too.

The United Kingdom Best Sexual Accessory Survey for Women to Try
So adult aid are on the lips of every lad these days, either nattering on about them in the toilet, at the disco or on the tv. But which adult aid is the best out there, with the excellent choice to select from surely a researcher had to find out the best one.
An adult toy company asked over 1 hundred chicks in March what their very favourite adult aid was along with other personal questions.
If you love sex toys you should try out Realistic Vibrators
It was discovered that the most very favourite adult aid for chicks was the vibrator, and they just loved it! Women were so excited by the idea of a extra large vibrator that many of them would use it straight after coming home from work. The best types of vibrator were the Jessica bunny vibrators as they help to stimulate the clitoris as well as inserting into the flower.
The 2nd most popular adult aid was the exciting dong. Dongs are similar to vibrators except they do not have batteries or vibrate. Dongs come in all shapes and sizes from ten inches to twelve inches. They can come with suction cups to have a tremendous experience hands free and can easily attach to a bath or toilet set. Dongs have been a firm best seller since the 70s and looks like they will be around for a long time.
So it was decided that the vibrator was the winner and the dildo came in second place, with some many sex toys out there it was difficult to know which type of vibrator was the most exciting for women to try. The standard vibrator sex toys are battery powered and shaped like a male’s penis. Standard vibrator sex toys are shaped just like the proper thing and use batteries for power. Stardard vibrators can be made up of plastic, vinyl metal or silicone. Stardard vibrators can either be inserted or placed against your vagina to get the sensation. We supply a wide range of standard vibrator sex toys.
The hottest way to use standard vibrator sex toys is to make sure it is germ free before use, make sure it is not too big for your vagina, and also make sure that you do not use it every Monday night and you do venture out on a date to the nightclub.
Term Life Insurance Companies
Shopping for the right term life insurance company is a daunting task, with the multitude of options offered by the companies. All of them have different nuances while trying to attract the customer. As healthcare costs are also on the rise, getting an affordable life insurance rate has become even more important. This is true even for corporations who are searching for the optimal group term life insurance at affordable rates for their employees.
Term life insurance companies sell the same type of product with their own price structures, coverage, and policy exclusions. This is why reading and understanding the legal fine print is considered significant before narrowing down on the company and the policy contract. Companies usually train their sales team on their own products. There are also independent insurance specialists who sell the products on behalf of various life insurance companies. A majority of these intermediaries are in the form of online websites which can do the comparison shopping for you based on your personal information. They try to come up with the closest matching choices and usually would provide further information to help you make a conscientious decision.
In choosing a term life insurance company, one must consider its financial and operational stability, as you will be entering into a long-term engagement and relying on them for financial security for your dependents. Some industry standard ratings include Standard & Poor’s, A.M. Best Company and Fitch. These impartial ratings help indicate the long-term reliability of the company. Customer service quality is another major factor which should be driving the decision towards choosing a term life insurance company. Metlife, The Western and Southern Life Insurance Company, and Aetna are some of the major life insurance companies with a significant customer base and excellent service.
Term Life Insurance provides detailed information about term life insurance, group term life insurance, and more. Term Life Insurance is affiliated with Dental Insurance Plan.
Home Security At Holiday Time
Before departing for your well earned holiday be wise and review your home security. The latest figures from the FBI show a burglary occurs every 15.4 seconds in the USA. The majority of these break ins take place when the householder is away from the home. A great number of these burglaries could be prevented by beefing up your home security and installing a home security system.
The installation of a home security alarm, and home security surveillance cameras is one of the most common and effective ways to improve the security of your home instantly.
Many of these home security products also have the option of home security monitoring. But the installation of these devices does not guarantee you immunity, other steps and precautions need to taken to improve you overall security.
Some of the less expensive options available include installing motion sensor lighting around the perimeter of your home.
As well as the external security there is a great deal that can be done inside the home to improve security. Check all locks on doors and windows replace any defective locks.
Patio sliding doors offer the opportunist thief just what they are looking for easy access, the reason is usually poor maintenance or security (broken lock) don’t get caught out this way thinking it will never happen, it does and it will.
Take these steps to make your sliding door even more secure consider installing a blocking device such as a “Charlie bar” or some other type of track blocker to prevent the door from sliding open.
At the very least you should block the track with a steel rod or wooden dowel to prevent any movement.
Where possible use a home safe to store any valuables include such items as keys to outbuildings, garages, other vehicles and any other device that requires a key.
You should also hide any personal documents and identity information in your home safe as well.
If you don’t have a home safe consider using a post office vault especially if you live in a high crime area.
Giving the impression someone is at home is a great way to dissuade a burglar and is key to improving home security. This can be achieved by using timers in various rooms to switch lights an appliances on and off at differing times of the day. Be smart though and apply this tactic to more than one room in your house.
Other security measures include stopping your mail and paper deliveries. If you have two vehicles leave one parked on your driveway or ask a neighbor to park in your driveway whilst you are away.
Leave a key with a trusted neighbor or relative and ask them to check your home periodically. Switch off any answering machine don’t be tempted to leave a message saying you are on vacation.
Ensure all outbuildings are secure, making sure any tools in your garage that could be used to gain access are under lock and key.
No matter what steps and security measures you take your home will never be 100% secure.
But the harder you make it for a burglar to gain entry the stronger your home security will be.
